Momentum is growing so fast!

There is so much we want to do as a ministry of Oak Hills Church.
So, now is your chance.  We need you.
      Volunteers are needed to

  • help plan events
  • help people feel welcome
  • plan service projects

Please email Lynda (lyndar@oakhillschurchsa.org) if you are
     interested in serving.

Here are some of the areas where help is needed:

       Greeting Committee

  • Four or five people needed to greet people at the door as they come to class, seat new visitors and help them fill out their information cards.
  • Could take this a step further by agreeing to take some of the new member information and commit to do follow up emails and/or phone calls for a few weeks after their first visit to make them feel welcome to the group and to find out if they have any needs we can help out with, get their feedback on what they like or don't like about the group etc.

Welcome - Outreach - In Reach Committee

  • A team of 5 or 6 (or more) people to send welcome letters to new visitors each week and to alternate attending the monthly visitor’s dinner.
  • This same team could also send letters of invitation to the class to people who have visited Oak Hills worship service who are single and in our age group but have not attended a Bible Study group.  A copy of our group calendar could be included with the invitation to come to our class, etc.

  • Letters can also be written to our members who may have missed a few weeks to let them know we care and we miss them.  (This could be done each Wednesday with everyone at one of the tables in the South Room at 5:00 or 5:30, then they would have the option to eat there as well before service, the letters could be put in the box with the leftover paper and envelopes and left at the church for Lynda to mail out for us.)

       Prayer Team (In-group Pastoral Care)

  • Two or three people to be the contacts for special prayer requests of our members.  The people on this team would need to be able to receive these prayer requests without sharing them with others unless they're asked to.
  • This team could also coordinate special needs of members such as rides to and from church, to/from events, help with moving, getting volunteers for meals needed during illnesses etc.  So many in our group don't have family near by to ask for help when their car breaks down or they have something in their home that needs to be moved and requires more than just their own strength etc. even having someone take them for medical procedures that require them to have a driver etc.

        Missions Coordinators

  • A team of 2 or 3 to find short term missions for the group to participate in and present these to the group, organize the sign up, etc.  We have the Adopt a Village program as a quarterly mission outreach right now but there are so many other options out there is someone could take the time to research them and find one that fits our group.
  • This team could also work with the church mission ministry to find opportunities to travel for missions as well.

        Social & Fitness Committee

  • A team of 3 to 5 people to plan events and recruit people to help with scheduling and coordinating events.
  • They should meet once a month or once every 6 weeks to create a 2-month calendar so these calendars can be printed up and also published on the website.  These calendars can include the Sunday Lunch locations.  The calendars can be printed and made available on Sunday mornings and can also be included in the invitation letters sent out by the Outreach Team on Wednesdays.
  • This Team will also need someone to set up weekly aerobics classes or low impact workouts, sports, or Saturday morning walks in various parks etc.
